Success Story: Suburban Lahore’s 12-Year-Old CHD Warrior

This is the success story of Sadia, a 12-year-old ‘Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Warrior’. The hardship that she and her family went through is unconceivable for most people. Thankfully, we at PCHF were there to offset their pain.
Sadia was diagnosed with Tetralogy Of Fallot (TOF), a critical CHD that is a combination of 4 heart defects. The planned treatment for TOF is called a Total Correction, a relatively expensive procedure.
Sadia’s family is from suburban Lahore and her father works as a driver. Being the sole provider for his whole family, and having limited resources at his disposal, he desperately needed help.
There are thousands of children awaiting heart surgery at the prestigious Children’s Hospital Lahore, where Sadia’s family kept on taking her. They were constantly being told to wait for 6 months to a year. That is where we stepped in.
A doctor who had initially treated Sadia told her family about PCHF. Having years of experience treating children born with CHD, we were ready to help Sadia as well. With our phenomenal donor base and Pakistan’s revolutionary national Sehat Card facility, the required funds were swiftly arranged.
All hospital related formalities were also taken care of and the surgery was scheduled at our very own Cardiac Care Centre at the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital (ULTH). Dr. Faiz Rasool, a renowned Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, was to perform the procedure.
Blessedly, after the efforts of our entire team, including our brilliant healthcare professionals, the surgery was a resounding success! Sadia’s family, especially her father who did everything he possibly could, is eternally grateful to us and prays for our continued success, alongside legendary Pakistani cricketer, Misbah Ul Haq, on the journey to conquering CHD.
