Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation (PCHF)
PCHF is a not-for-profit charity organization, registered with the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), as a Section 42 Company. It was established in 2012. PCHF provides fully funded and/or subsidized surgeries through partnerships to impoverished children with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) in Pakistan.
PCHF’s Programs
A preliminary feasibility for Pakistan’s first dedicated, state-of-the-art Children’s Heart Hospital and Research Institute was done by a leading consulting firm, and the estimated cost was USD 12 Million in 2012. In the absence of such funds, it was decided that PCHF should start another initiative, Project Mohsin, in parallel with Project CHHRI, that would provide financial support for interventions/surgeries of children belonging to deserving families and born with CHD. As most of the received donations are Zakat, we sought help from religious experts to develop guidelines and procedures to fulfil requirements and monitor the process on a regular basis. Understanding the need for capacity building & training to overcome the disease burden, Project Danial was started in the memory of Muhammad Danial Tanveer who passed away from CHD in 2014.
How It All Began
Every year 60,000 children are born in Pakistan with holes in their hearts along with other heart diseases, a majority of whom die due to lack of facilities.
Knowing and understanding our culture & spirit to participate in philanthropic work as a society, we set about establishing an organization where transparency and credibility would form the cornerstones. We registered PCHF with the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in 2012 as a Not-For-Profit Section 42 Company. A Section 42 Company has maximum oversight and regulatory compliance requirements by the government.

PCHF attained income-tax exempt status from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in 2015 and then again in 2018.
In 2016, PCHF applied for certification from the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP), and successfully obtained the 3-year certification. The audit by PCP in 2019 once again cleared PCHF for a further 3-year certification.
In collaboration with the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital (ULTH), PCHF started their own surgical unit in 2018. The surgical unit was able to cater to mild complexity cases in the beginning and was upgraded to operate on mild to moderate complexity cases in 2020.
In September 2021, construction of the grey structure of Project CHHRI was initiated and completed by 2022 year-end. In 2023, the finishing phase commenced.
Misbah Ul Haq
In 2018, Misbah Ul Haq, Pakistan National Cricket Team coach and selector, joined the cause after a close friend experienced the hardships and hurdles that families with CHD kids go through in Pakistan.
He made it his mission to help us build Pakistan’s first dedicated, state-of-the-art Children’s Heart Hospital and Research Institute. As well as being our brand ambassador, he is also our board member and actively involved in promotion & fundraising.
