Project Mohsin

Project Mohsin

Moshin Ali Bukhari was a truly resilient ‘Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Warrior’ who became the symbol of hope for thousands of deserving children suffering from the world’s most common birth defect.

Every year, around 60,000 children are born with CHD in Pakistan. A large majority of these children are unable to get the heart treatment that they require due to lack of facilities and personnel, and also due to the high cost of treatment. One heart surgery costs around PKR 650,000. In line with its mission, PCHF continues to strive to provide top quality diagnostic and treatment options for these children, irrespective of their family’s ability to pay.

We have our very own PCHF Child Heart Centre, at the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital (ULTH). We are operating this setup ourselves, with our own team of nurses and medical officers. Our aim with this setup is to provide the highest quality of care to our patients at the lowest cost possible. We are one of only three centres in Pakistan to be recognized by the International Quality Improvement Collaborative for Congenital Heart Diseases (IQIC). IQIC provides benchmarking data for healthcare professionals and guides quality improvement efforts.

Partnerships With Hospitals & Institutions

We have built partnerships with different hospitals and institutions around the country helping us strengthen the outreach of our program.

IHT, Lahore

We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ittefaq Hospital Trust, Lahore until the start of our own specialized children’s heart hospital. We are getting the surgeries of PCHF sponsored patients done at IHT at a discounted rate.

AFIC, Rawalpindi

We have signed the same MOU with the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi.

Transparent Hands

We signed a MOU with Transparent Hands, another NGO, to financially sponsor 50% of the cost of treatment of deserving patients referred to them by PCHF.

LNH, Karachi

We are also having child heart surgeries carried out at Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi.

Cleft Hospital, Gujrat

We have signed a partnership agreement with Cleft Hospital Gujrat and the Cleft Lip & Palate Association of Pakistan (CLAPP) for the mutual referral of patients.

Our aim, by involving these various healthcare institutions from all over Pakistan, is to provide improved access to quality healthcare services for children from all over the country, even the remote areas where currently there is no access to treatment.

PCHF is also offering free Outpatient Department (OPD) services for all their patients. This includes free pre-operative and post-operative echocardiography tests and cardiology consultations.

When we think of the lives of others as linked to our own, our empathy grows. Together, we have demonstrated an amazing ability to help build a brighter and better future for our country.
