Success Story: A 3-Year-Old CHD Warrior From Rahim Yar Khan

This is Humna’s success story. A 3-year-old ‘Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Warrior’. A lot of CHD patients are diagnosed at birth, however, Humna’s parents found out about her condition a bit later in her life. This was devastating news for the entire family.
Humna was diagnosed with a critical CHD that is a combination of 4 heart defects, Tetralogy Of Fallot (TOF). A complex and relatively expensive procedure known as a Total Correction is the planned treatment for TOF.
Humna’s family came to us all the way from Rahim Yar Khan. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a shopkeeper. He desperately needed financial support for his daughter’s treatment.
Initially, Humna’s family took her to the prestigious Children’s Hospital Lahore, but with thousands of children on the waiting list there they needed to find another solution in order to save Humna’s life. That is where we come in.
Dr. Salman Shah, a renowned Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon and PCHF Medical Advisory Board Member, referred the family to us. With our vast experience dealing with such cases, we were going to be there for Humna and her family as well.
Thanks to our phenomenal donor base, all the required funds were swiftly arranged. All hospital, consultation and accommodation related formalities were also taken care of, with the surgery being scheduled at our very own Cardiac Care Centre at the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital (ULTH).
Along with the prayers of Humna’s loved ones, our remarkable team of healthcare professionals were able to save Humna’s life after successfully conducting her surgery. Humna’s family is eternally grateful to us and now wishes for our continued success on the journey to conquering CHD.
