Muhammad Waleed: The Boy From Karak (KPK), Just 10 Months Old & Inspiring The World!
#SaturdaySpecial
Muhammad Waleed was diagnosed with a common Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), better known as a hole in the heart. To make matters worse, he was also diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension (PHT). PHT is high blood pressure in the blood vessels that supply the lungs.
After suffering symptoms (rapid heartbeat and breathing, blue tinge to the skin etc.) of CHD just a month or so after being born, Salman’s parents brought him to Dr. Asim Khan, a renowned Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon in Lahore. Dr. Asim recommended heart surgery and to go to Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation (PCHF) for any kind of help.
Waleed’s father, Khalid Usman, works as a Tube Well Operator in Karak, KPK and solely supports his whole family, including his wife and three children. Karak is a mountainous region abundant with date palm forests and salt mines. There’s also a place there called Soor Dag, which is similar to the Grand Canyon. This beautiful town, though rich in natural beauty, has scarce medical facilities.
Thankfully, our organization was formed to help people all over the country. We stepped in, made all the necessary arrangements as soon as we possibly could, and ensured that Waleed got timely heart treatment.
Muhammad Waleed, after undergoing successful heart surgery, is now a CHD Warrior. This was the success story of a child only 10 months old, who inspired the world.
For children born with CHD, and their families, no matter how hard things get, no matter how impossible things may seem, we at PCHF, are here for you.
