Ayesha Farhan’s Legacy
Ayesha Farhan’s Legacy (2010-2012): A Beacon of Hope for Children with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD)
Ayesha Farhan’s story is one of struggle, loss and transformation. Her short life inspired a movement to provide hope for children born with CHD, children who might now live the life she could not.
The youngest of four siblings, Ayesha brought immense joy to her family. At just three months old, she struggled to breathe, prompting a desperate hospital visit. Her family encountered the harsh reality faced by many in Pakistan, which includes limited awareness, inadequate resources and a lack of specialized care for CHD. Diagnosed after weeks of uncertainty, Ayesha underwent surgery but tragically passed away during her second operation.
Her father, Farhan Ahmad, channeled his grief into purpose. Determined to prevent other families from experiencing such loss, he founded Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation (PCHF). Friends and family joined the cause, which is to ensure that not a single child suffering from CHD in Pakistan remains untreated. PCHF has been healing little hearts since inception in 2012.
What began as a tribute to Ayesha’s legacy has transformed into Pakistan’s first dedicated Children’s Heart Hospital & Research Institute. This facility stands as a symbol of hope, resilience and the power of community-driven change.
Ayesha’s story teaches us to transform personal loss into collective good. Her legacy lives on in every child treated through PCHF, and every family finding hope in their darkest moments.
This hospital is not just a building, it is Ayesha’s story made real, a gift of life for future generations, Insha’Allah.
PCHF: a charity you can trust with all your heart
